Madrid Court Flushed by Toilet Clog

Maintenance workers trying to find the cause of a clogged courthouse toilet expected a stinky job, but none of them thought they’d actually find skunk.

The workers found dozens of small bags of hashish – 14 kilos (30 pounds) worth in all, completely blocking the waste pipe from the holding cell area in the basement of the Palace of Justice in the Spanish coastal town of Ceuta. This is, arguably, the most valuable toilet blockage ever dislodged in Spain. Its estimated street value is over $140,000.

Hashish is the resin produced by the marijuana plant, produced by compressing dried leaves and flowering tops of the plant. It takes between 45 and 75 kilograms of marijuana to produce a single kilo of hashish – making its street price significantly higher than ordinary cannabis.
