Bungled Burglar Wore Blue Panties

That’s right, blue women’s panties - and he wore them on his face. The man, Steven Clay Stephenson of Ranson, West Virginia, used a pistol-shaped cigarette lighter to try and hold up a convenience store.

The cashier laughed it off and refused to give the panty-faced burglar any money, thinking Stephenson was kidding. Whether through embarrassment or fear, Stephenson ran to his Jeep and fled the scene around 4am Wednesday. A few minutes later, state police stopped a vehicle matching the same description.

Sargent TC Kearns found the lighter while searching Stephenson, and recovered the underwear nearby. “I couldn’t make this stuff up if I tried,” Kearns said.

Stephenson has been charged with nighttime burglary, attempted robbery, driving under the influence, petit larceny and improper registration.
