Cop Gets Baked, Calls 911 for Help

Edward Sanchez, a former Detroit police officer, will face no criminal charges for stealing drugs from criminals and creating baked goods for himself. The department has been investigating Sanchez since a 911 call from his home on April 21, 2006.

During the five-minute conversation with an emergency dispatcher, Sanchez expressed fears that he and his wife were in the throes of overdosing on marijuana. “I think we’re dying. We made brownies and I think we’re dead,” he said. “I really do.”

During one interview with police, Sanchez said his wife took the marijuana out of his police car while he was asleep - in another, Sanchez admitted to taking the weed himself and adding it to the brownie mix.

It was announced on Wednesday that Mr and Mrs Sanchez will not face criminal charges in the matter. However, all parties aren’t satisfied with the outcome of the investigation - City Councilman Doug Thomas vowed he’d investigate further, “If you’re a cop and you’re arresting people and you’re confiscating the marijuana and keeping it for yourself, that’s bad. That’s real bad.” he said.

Sanchez resigned from the force in Detroit last year.
